Four things and we can quote

• What you want to protect

  A name or logo, an invention, a product shape — or all three. A JPG, a draft specification or product photos are enough to start.

• What you actually sell

  Plain description of the goods or services. We translate that into classes and technical fields; you don't need to know the classifications.

• Where you sell, make and plan to sell

  Manufacturing location matters as much as sales. If your goods are made in Vietnam and sold in Japan, both are exposed.

• Any date that has already passed

  A priority date, a PCT filing, a trade fair, a product page that went live. For patents and designs these dates decide what is still possible — tell us even if you think they are a problem.
